Gestoría Services for Spain Expats

A gestor (or gestoría) is a uniquely Spanish professional who handles bureaucratic and administrative tasks on your behalf. Think of them as a combination of accountant, administrator, and government liaison — and once you arrive in Spain, they become invaluable.

What Does a Gestor Do?

Gestores are licensed professionals regulated by Spanish law. For NLV holders, they typically help with:

  • NIE and TIE applications — Including booking the notoriously difficult cita previa appointments
  • Empadronamiento — Municipal registration at your local town hall
  • Tax filings — Annual income tax returns (IRPF), Modelo 720 for foreign assets
  • Social security registration — If applicable for healthcare access
  • Vehicle registration — If you import or buy a car in Spain
  • Business setup — If you transition to a work visa or autónomo status later

Gestor vs Immigration Lawyer

Immigration lawyers handle your visa application and legal matters. Gestores handle the ongoing administrative tasks once you are in Spain. Many expats use both — a lawyer for the visa process and a gestor for day-to-day Spanish bureaucracy.

How Much Does a Gestor Cost?

Gestor fees are generally very reasonable compared to lawyer fees. Expect to pay around 50-150 EUR for individual tasks like tax filings or empadronamiento assistance, or 200-500 EUR for annual packages covering multiple services.
